The AFL Failed Adam Goodes Miserably
The AFL lecture fans about their racism but when one of their own crosses the line he gets a slap on the wrist at the back end of a season. Taylor Walker must receive a life ban from the AFL if this issue is really going to be stamped out. The AFL failed Adam Goodes miserably and he was lost to the game. An Australian of the Year and two-time Brownlow Medallist booed out of the game he loved by racists attending the footy. Racism is a deeply embedded issue, as it is passed on from parents to offspring like a badge of identity.
Racism Festers in Regional Australia Unchecked
Unfortunately, racism is more visibly prevalent in regional areas of Australia, where proponents, often go unchecked. Old unhelpful attitudes can continue to fester in backwaters away from the glare of the big city. Obviously, not everyone who leaves in the country is a racist but those who are go about their business unchallenged. Taylor Walker is originally from Broken Hill in NSW. He is 31 years old. You would think that a mature ex-captain of an AFL football team would know better, but bad attitudes fostered whilst young can remain close to the heart.
I did not believe the words spoken in that video about racism coming out of Walker’s mouth. I did not hear that ring of truth. Why didn’t the big forward front the media like a real man would? Taylor Walker is the beating heart of racism in Australia and the AFL. Australians go around telling themselves what a great multicultural society we live in. The unfortunate truth is that racism is alive and well in plenty of places around this nation. It lives and breathes in sporting teams and their hordes of fans. It spreads hurtful lies about innocent people with different colour skin for no justifiable reason. It does this because its proponents are too stupid to question the lies, they were brought up with. The AFL needs to find a backbone and Taylor Walker must receive a life ban from the AFL.
