Ordinary Citizens Are Like Gisele Pelicot
The neoliberal order is her husband and every morning we wake up, feeling a little out of sorts, having unbeknown to us, been raped by strangers in the night. By the governments elected to represent us, by the bankers and corporations, by the jobs for the boys, and insider deals for mates. I do not wish to make light of the betrayal by use of this analogy. Rather, I emphasise it and the absolute betrayal of the sacred trust inherent within marriage. The corruption of our institutions and the sordid deals made over the bodies of the innocent. Ordinary citizens are like Gisele Pelicot.

Gisele Pelicot Was Drugged & Raped By Strangers
Drugged and raped in your unconscious state, what a foul litany of married life. A pimp for a husband exchanging sex with his wife for favours and influence. The lowest of the low behaviour. I cannot help but notice the parallels with what is occurring in the lives of us, ordinary citizens. We are largely ignorant of the deals done by our governments with big business. We wake up every morning none the wiser of our fate. Screwed over but we just don’t know it yet. Oligarchs and billionaires negotiating our compliance with governments of the day.
We The People Have Been Shafted In Our Sleep
Have you noticed the lack of competition in most sectors? The concentration of ownership and control in too few hands? How about the privatisation of what formerly were public assets? The consequent lack of transparency about what used to be shared utilities and government services? The rising price of everything and the lack of consumer choice to shop elsewhere?
We have been screwed by neoliberalism under the cover of empty promises about cheaper energy bills. The trickle-down effect could be the stains on the sheets.
Are You Drugged Asleep Or Awake?
Ordinary citizens are like Gisele Pelicot, except we have not had the satisfaction of a trial. Perhaps, we don’t have her courage to stand up and call the infamy out? We take it like sheep, barely raising a bleat, and docilely get herded along. Americans are the stupidest people in the world re-electing the crooked Trump for President. They don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground, as Randy Newman famously sang. What you get with government agencies in private hands is corruption. Neoliberalism and corruption go hand in glove, like assault and battery.
Raped In Your Sleep By Strangers
While you sleep they will sell you down the river. If you believe the rhetoric about a better future you are a bigger fool than me. Drugged and raped in your sleep by strangers, it is an image for our age. Healthcare insurance executives and investors profiting in the hundreds of billions from screwing over the sick. Bankers getting bailed out to the tune of trillions for a global crisis they brought upon themselves via unregulated greed. Who ends up paying the ferry man? You and me. Ordinary citizens are like Gisele Pelicot…
